Horizon Charters Live Aboard Adventures... Our office is your playground, and your playground is our concern.

The world's oceans, once thought invincible are now proving to be a finite resource in need of a watchful eye. Since our inception we have worked hard to maintain a high level of environmental awareness and each year we take a close look at how our company policies are manage and make any upgrades or adjustments that are needed.

Trash
Our policy is thus, "We pack it in, we pack it out." No different than camping. We also vow to pick up at least one piece of floating trash every day that we are away from port. From balloons to plywood, we will stop what we are doing at least once per day to pick up an errant piece of rubbish.

Fossil Fuel Pollution
After re-powering our vessels in 2000 with clean burning 4-cycle motors, we have realized a 12% reduction in fuel consumption and have reduced emissions by a staggering 50%! Our engines are tuned annually to factory specifications, and are maintained on a stringent schedule to ensure that these clean burning motors continue to run as efficiently as they were designed.

In today's society everything needs to go faster, but for our vessels to go fast we are required to use tremendous amounts of diesel fuel. We this in mind, we travel only as fast as is necessary for the particular scenario and adjust our travel periods to allow us to travel as slow as possible.

Environmental Conservation
Fish and game laws...designed for a reason, built for a purpose. Unfortunately, California's Department of Fish and Game and the government of Mexico are both stretched to the limit and do not have the resources available to maintain consistent on water enforcement. We enforce the laws that were designed to protect the oceans and report any infraction witnessed to the proper authorities.

Environmental Research
The vast expanse of the worlds seas require the watchful eyes of the scientific community to provide valuable data to those who create laws to protect its tender underbelly. We provide transportation and a working platform for all forms of research and will continue to do so as long as the need for environmental data exists.

Go Green!!
Every year we look inside ourselves to determine what we can do next to reduce our impact on the environment. For 2008 we have made the decision to join forces with EPIC (Environmental Products for Important Causes, www.products4causes.com) by utilizing their line of green cleaning products. All of EPIC's profits after taxes are donated to environmental conservation, education and research.
