Eco Itinerary : The Majestic Whales

Blue and Fin Whale Photo Journeys

June - October

We share our planet with the largest animal ever known to have existed. Now you have the opportunity to encounter these magnificent animals in the waters close to our port in San Diego.

Join us for an exhilarating 7 hour Blue Whale photo journey aboard M/V Horizon where you will travel to the edge of the continental shelf to the summer and fall feeding grounds of these majestic animals. Along the way you may encounter pods of common dolphin which often times number in the hundreds, pilot whales, fin whales, Pacific bottlenose dolphin, risso dolphins, sea lions, mola mola, marlin, tuna and sharks.

Birders will enjoy the chance to view pelagic offshore species such as: shearwaters, jaegers, tropic-birds, albatross, petrels, gulls, phalaropes, murres and auklets.

Heading south along the edge of the escarpment you will visit the Coronado Islands, 13 miles south of San Diego to view sea lions, harbor seals and a myriad of island bird species.

Sign up today for an encounter with the leviathan, the magnificent blue whale!
