Laguna San Ignacio
The
World Heritage Site of Laguna San Ignacio is the mid way point of
one of the longest known mammal migrations on the planet. Pacific gray whales make their annual 12,000 mile roundtrip trek
from the Bering Sea to this warm shallow Baja, Mexico lagoon to
calve and find suitable mates for future offspring.
San Ignacio Lagoon is one of only two places in the world where you
can experience
eye to eye encounters with these friendly whales. Imagine yourself
looking into the eye of a 40 foot long female whale as she nudges
her calf into the touch of your outstretched hand.
Our vessel 'Horizon' is one only 5 vessels allowed into the lagoon.
It is hard to describe the feeling of standing on the main deck at
night listening to the exhaled breath of multiple whales as they
slowly lumber in an out of the lagoon.
While we are in the lagoon, Ecoturismo Kuyima will provide
our whale watching and beach combing tour support. We provide sustainable
eco-tourism adventures by working with Green Globe certified Kuyima
as our local guide.
On your 10 day, 9 night 'Voyage Along the Baja' you will experience
to two of Baja's beautiful desert islands for hiking, kayaking,
diving and snorkeling, spend 3 days in Laguna San Ignacio with the
whales and amazing bird life and then venture farther south to
Baja's biological jewel, Bahia Magdalena. Then finally on to Cabo
San Lucas for your flight home.
Between destinations you'll be mesmerized in the small ship
atmosphere while relaxing on your floating hotel. Daily
presentations by our staff, sumptuous meals and casual camaraderie
in a relaxed atmosphere...you are on vacation!
Step out of the stress of the day to day norm, and 'Immerse Yourself
in Nature' with a Voyage to the Whales of Laguna San Ignacio! |
